Fintan Gavin becomes the first Irish champion of season 2 of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Tour, with a win in Edinburgh over the weekend. He beat Andrew Hawksby, who was playing his first live tournament ever, heads up for the title and £61,500 first prize. A total field of 519 entered the £500 Main Event, creating a prize pool of £251,715.

Hawksby may have been playing his first live tournament, but Gavin is no stranger to the live felt. He already has over $1.2 million in live winnings, came 2nd in EPT Barcelona in 2008, and is one of the organisers of Irish Poker Championships.

When asked with what he would do with his winnings, he replied “Buy shares in Eoghan O’Dea.”
